Every morning, I start my day by filling my dog’s bowl with feed. This project began when I noticed constellations in the scattered pieces of feed they dropped while eating. I count the scattered pieces like stars and sweep them up with my hands, predicting today’s fortune and destiny. Then, I take a walk, following the paths they seem to guide me on.
This exhibition envisions events that occur from the hottest days of summer to the end of the season. It explores the constellations and myths surrounding dogs and humans, and the stories within our daily lives. The hottest summer days are called “The dog days,” and it is said that during these days, Sirius (the Dog Star) shines the brightest in the night sky. This constellation has served as an important turning point in many cultures.
I became fascinated by how animals are depicted mysteriously in different cultures, like in animism or shamanism. I started paying attention to the traits and attitudes animals show in various works of literature, movies, and other art forms. This led me to imagine how animals impact our daily lives.
